The Times they are A Changing
Myanmar a country formally known as Burma the jewel of Southeast Asia. Tucked between India, China, and Thailand, after decades of civil unrest the gem has finally emerged into the Twenty-first century. Myanmar was once one of the wealthiest nation in Asia known for its limitless rice productions and imperialism. After English colonial occupation Myanmar under went reformation that would take many decades to rebuild and reestablish itself into the world’s radar. Like my contemporary travelers, the journey to the new reopened Myanmar was a novelty on everyone’s “must see”list. I came expecting a country filled with civil unrest and politically charged with propagandas, instead I found Buddha. It is without a doubt that Myanmar is still a nation undergoing some great changes. The colonial buildings are old and unkept, the cars are outdated, and the faded glory of its past still paint upon the many walls across its cities. But is it is enchanting like the Wild West once was, Myanmar fascinate the outside world with its untouched of modernity. To me the core value that never changed is the Burmese people and her religion. If Thailand is known as Land of Smiles, Myanmar should be known as Land of the Pious. I found people who are sincere, in depth with its heritage, and above all people of faith. Going from Yangon to Mandalay and ending Bagan, it was as though I was stepping into the pages of Rudyard Kipling’s. It is a vision fantasy of the far east, it is the land of thousands of stupas, and it is above all the land of Buddha.
With so many photos I can’t possibly find the time to edit and fit all into this blog. I alternatively created a video for you guys. Enjoy.
